St. Marina's Hermitage

Thank you for visiting!

Named in honor of St. Marina, our ministry provides resources, tools, and items for Orthodox families and their Church communities.

Saint Marina of Antioch

Saint Marina was born in the 3rd century to a prominent pagan priest in Antioch of Pisidia. After losing her mother in infancy, she was raised by a devout Christian nanny who quietly taught her the love of Jesus Christ.

By age 15, Marina’s vibrant faith could no longer be hidden. When she courageously declared herself a Christian and refused to marry the local Roman governor, she was disowned by her father and thrown into prison. While locked away, the devil physically manifested as a terrifying dragon to try to break her spirit. Unshaken, the teenage saint prayed fervently, made the sign of the Cross, and famously defeated the adversary by striking him with a hammer.

Because a young teenager overthrew the prince of darkness through nothing but pure faith, Saint Marina is deeply cherished in the Orthodox Church as a mighty protector of children, families, and the home against temptation and spiritual darkness.

“Nothing will separate me from Christ.”

— Saint Marina of Antioch
